The sounds of Johannes Brahms’ amazing German Requiem filled Eglwys Dewi Sant in Central Cardiff on Saturday! Feedback from our Mozart Requiem Come and Sing day in January 2018 suggested that Ein Deutsches Requiem was a piece that people would be interested in singing – no mean feat as it takes over an hour to sing straight through and we were singing it in the original German. The 160 singers who came on the day conquered the challenge and we were delighted to receive feedback on how enjoyable, challenging yet rewarding the day was.
We were all led with expert guidance, good humour and fantastic subject knowledge by our Music Director Huw Williams, so a big thank you to him, as well as Mike Page for his excellent organisation of the day.
The soprano solo parts were sung by four of Cantemus’ sopranos.
We are now looking forward to our forthcoming concerts – March 9th 2019 at Ewenny Arts Festival and June 22nd 2019 at St Augustine’s Church Penarth – and then on to our events for the 2019/2020 season.
