Christmas Concert

The weather is getting colder, the nights are drawing in and we’re preparing for our Christmas Concert! We return to the beautiful St Augustine’s Church, Penarth, on 22nd December 2018 (recording venue for our critically acclaimed CD Nativity) for a night of festive music from the last four centuries, joined by the Welsh Brass Consort and organist Robert Court.

The concert will open with Felix Mendelssohn’s Weihnachten, from his Sechs Sprüche op.79. These were written around 1844 when Mendelssohn was employed at Berlin Cathedral but were not published until 1874, after his death.

We also have music from, among others, Hans Leo Hassler (Hodie Christus natus est), Philip Stopford (Lully, Lulla, Lullay) and three fantastic close harmony pieces by Peter Gritton.

Tickets are now available from Ticketsource at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cantemus-chamber-choir or on 0333 6663366 (please note that a £1.75 booking fee applies for telephone bookings) priced at £14 (£10 for OAPs, £7 for U18s, students and unwaged)
